The Ministry of National Defense today (25^th) pointed out that at 5PM, September 24^th of eastern time zone, the US government have conducted “informed the Progress” process with regard to the military sales project to ROC “standard aircraft materials of 4 models including F-16” that worth $330 million USD, and the project is expected to be effective officially within 1 month.

The Ministry of National Defense pointed out that based on “Taiwan Relations Act” and “Six Guarantees”, US keep to provide ROC defensive weapons, and build the foundation to maintain regional stability. Military sales help to improve the self-defense capability of ROC and ensure the peace in the Taiwan Strait. The Ministry of National Defense expressed appreciation with the military sales from the US.

The military sales project was been proposed by ROC to the US in the last year (2017), and the items including standard aircraft materials of 4 aircraft models including F-16, C-130, F-5 and IDF. The follow-up tasks including the Air Force should sign LOA with the US and plan the schedule of material receiving and budget planning.

The Ministry of National Defense emphasize that the military sales can demonstrate that the US attach high importance with regard to the national defense of Taiwan, and the two sides will continue to consolidate the partnership in the future and contribute to the long-term stability of the region.
